Many times beginners come to a Dojo and have no idea how to act or what to expect. Many found Kendo by indirect means such as Manga, Anime, Modern Films, or books such as Shogun. What Kendo actually is is a far cry from any of those media. The intention of this article are to help guide and instruct and give general tips to beginners. Everything from the moment you first hear the word Kendo to the point were you walk through the door of the Dojo and into your first few months in practice.
